Summary
Step 22 is one of many subtle tri-color combinations offered in wide stripes. With exact repeats of 1.75 inches. It was the color combinations that first caught my eye, but it was the touch and feel of the yarn that pulled me in. The photo on the ball band left no room for guessing how this skein would knit up. Yardage requires one skein for a generous pair of socks.
My Impressions
This yarn was very soft to the touch due to the aloe vera and jojoba oil. It knit up quickly and effortlessly. The pattern does repeat exactly which may require matching to insure that socks are identical, if this is important to you. The pattern repeat kept the knitting interesting and I do believe may have added to the speed of my overall sock knitting. The subtle color combinations has a make this yarn appealing to both men & women and is ideal for career/professional wear.
The Knitting Experience
US # 1.5 - 2.5 (2.5 - 3mm) was recommended. I chose to use US # 1 dpn's and was pleased with the result. The yarn was extra soft to the touch and pleasant to knit with....knit up effortlessly. No snagging, no twisting, and no knots.
The yarn can be pulled from either the center of the skein or the outside of the skein.
Washability
Machine washable. Recommend Gentle cycle with cold water, NO fabric softner and Line dry. I have found the socks to further soften with washing. Size remained the same and the socks bounced back. Any of my own knitting flaws seemed to disappear.
Wearability
The wool/nylon blend means there is no need to reinforce either the heels or toes. After many wearings, they have shown slight signs of wear taking on a slightly fuzzy appearance; almost like it has alpaca in them.
Seem durable with slight pilling. Very soft on the feet ... no scratchiness and non-irritating to the bottom of the feet.
Holds elasticity over time and can be easily worn with shoes.
