    Summary
Hand Painted Donegal Tweed Sock Yarn offers something a bit different which is the effect of tweed/donegal combined with the handpainted colorways. This intersting play on texture and color is certain to delight the senses.

The blending of the superwash merino wool, nylon & donegal creates soft but somehow rugged look. The 25% Nylon should prove to provide an extended long wear. This Sock yarn is available in 40 colors making it difficult to choose just one,,,,,I think they might be like potato chips....no one can have just one.... but totally worth it!

    My Impressions
Handpainted Knitting Yarns has done a superb job of mastering gorgeous color combinations, all named after Operas. The Donegal Tweed makes it a "must Have" for your sock wardrobe. It knit up quickly and effortlessly. There is no identical repeat, however the colorations tend to form in a rustic non-precise stripe, which kept the knitting interesting...yet does not have the look of spiraling. Because of the nature of handpainted yarns it really requires no matching. The yardage is very generous.

    The Knitting Experience
I chose to use US # 1 dpn's to make a slightly thicker sock, however the manufacture recommends US # 1 - 3's. The yarn was pleasant to knit with, soft to the touch....knitted up quick and effortlessly. No snagging, no twisting, and no knots.

The yarn can be pulled from either the center of the skein of the outside of the skein. Coloration's did form a undefined stripe verses spiraling.

    Washability
Handwash is what is recommended and I would go with that. I regrettably gave them a machine wash on gentle cycle in cold water test and they came out a bit fuzzy. I have found the socks to soften with washing. I definitely would only handwash these. However, during my test the socks did soften and remained the same size. Any of my own knitting flaws seemed to disappear.

    Wearability
Due to the high percentage of nylon in this blend means there is no need to reinforce either the heels or toes. After many wearings, they have not shown any signs of wear (aside from my own washing test).

Seem durable with no pilling. Very very soft on the feet ... no scratchiness and non-irritatingto the bottom of the feet.

Holds elasticity over time and is comfortable to wear with shoes.
