    Summary
Louet Gems Fingering is a beautiful solid-color yarn that is perfect for showing the detail of more intricate sock patterns. Available in 36 colors in muted & clear hues. This yarn has been custon spun for North America. It is a tight twist to minimize pilling while maintaining a high elasticity. An average pair of socks requires two hanks.

    My Impressions
This yarn was very soft to the touch. Initially it was the color palette that captivated me but it was the yarns performance that keeps me coming back. It made my detailed stitch pattern pop. It knit up effortlessly. As I was working on it, it commanded a lot of attention. This is one of my favorite solid color yarns.

    The Knitting Experience
US # 2 - 3's are recommended. I used US #1's for a knit fabric to offset that its 100% merino wool without any nylon for reinforcement. Another option is to carry reinforcement thread along heel and toe area.

I used my own swift and winder to convert my hanks to balls. I did not encounter any knots and the tight twist of the yarn prevented tangling from the center pull ball. It was effortless.

    Washability
Machine washable AND dryable. Recommend Gentle cycle with cold water and medium to cool dryer. I have found the socks to hold the stitch definition after washing. Size remained the same.

    Wearability
The 100% merino wool means there may be a need to reinforce either the heels or toes. After many wearings, they have not shown any signs of wear, using the smaller needle creating a tighter fabric.

Seem durable with no pilling. Very soft on the feet ... no scratchiness and non-irritating to the bottom of the feet.

Holds elasticity over time and is comfortable to wear with shoes.
