    Summary
Louet Gems Sport is a beautiful solid-color yarn that is perfect for showing the detail of more intricate sock patterns in a slightly heavier yarn than traditionally used for knitting socks. Available in 36 colors in muted & clear hues. This yarn has been custon spun for North America. It is a tight twist to minimize pilling while maintaining a high elasticity. An average pair of socks requires one to two hanks. I used two hanks, with about a third of the second hank not used.

    My Impressions
This yarn was very soft to the touch. Initially it was the color palette that captivated me but it was the yarns performance that keeps me coming back. It made my detailed stitch pattern pop. It knit up effortlessly.

This is one of my favorite solid color yarns especially when I want a little heavier sock for those cold winter days & nights.

    The Knitting Experience
US # 3 - 5's are recommended. I used US #2's for a knit fabric to offset that its 100% merino wool without any nylon for reinforcement. Another option is to carry reinforcement thread along heel and toe area. I do think US #3's would work well. After winding the hanks to balls, I found no knots and the yarn did not tangle at all from my center pull ball.

    Washability
Machine washable AND dryable. Recommend Gentle cycle with cold water and medium to cool dryer. I have found the socks to hold the stitch definition after washing. Size remained the same.

    Wearability
The 100% merino wool means there may be a need to reinforce either the heels or toes. After many wearings, they have not shown any signs of wear, using the smaller needle creating a tighter fabric. Seem durable with no pilling. Very soft on the feet ... no scratchiness and non-irritating to the bottom of the feet. Holds elasticity over time and is comfortable to wear with shoes.
